Asking your Pastor or Rabbi to perform the ceremony on Nantucket?
Check if special permissions are required by the Church or Synagogue on the Island.

Non-Religious Venues for your Ceremony
Couples have found a number of creative and memorable places on Nantucket to tie the knot. Ceremonies have been held at the island's lighthouses, at sea abourd charter boats, in the Jared Coffin House garden, and on Nantucket's pristine beaches.

The first step to holding a ceremony on private or public property is to get permission:

  • At the Beach: most beaches are public. If your ceremony is very small (5 or 6 people) no permissions are required. For larger gatherings or for a beach reception contact the Board of Selectmen at 508-228-7255.
  • At Brant Point Lighthouse: contact the Coast Guard Station at Brant Point at 508-228-0388.
  • At Great Point Lighthouse: contact the Trustees of Reservations at 508-228-3359.
  • In 'Sconset Square: this, too, is a public area but for a large gathering contact the Board of Selectmen at 508-228-7255.
  • In the Jared Coffin House Garden at the corner of Broad and Centre Sts.: call the Jared Coffin House at 508-228-2400.
